Encourage Muslim Child To Pursue Education–Mia

Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia has told Muslim women to encourage their children, especially girls, in education.

Speaking at a Muslim women’s conference in Kanjedza, Blantyre, Mia says forcing the girl child into marriage is no longer feasible as times have changed.

She says instead, the girl Muslim child must be encouraged to pursue education.

Mia has also encouraged women in the country to pursue careers in politics.

Known for her charity work, Mia has also provided various items including maize floor to the women.
