Zomba, Malawi – Aspiring Member of Parliament Mohamed Amer, who is vying for the seat in the upcoming elections, visited Matiya area in Zomba yesterday, where he donated over 300 bags of maize, each weighing approximately 25kg.
The donation came after a meeting with Traditional Authorities (T/As) and local groups, where they discussed the community’s challenges and identified areas for development.
Amer assured the community that he would work to improve farming, irrigation systems, academic resources, and health services. He also pledged to provide water solutions by drilling boreholes in the community. So far Amer has already donated over 40 boreholes to various communities and plans to drill boreholes in each community to ensure access to clean water. Additionally, he has opened two hospitals, one paying and one general, to provide quality healthcare services to the people.
The donation and pledge of support have been welcomed by the Matiya community, who are grateful for Amer’s commitment to their development.
