On Monday, 10th June, 2024 dark clouds covered Malawi following the missing of the military aircraft which crashed in the Chikangawa forest killing the former Vice President Dr. Saulosi Chilima, and eight others.
There were millions of questions raised but without answers, even President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his MCP did not provide answers beside giving conflicting statements that in the crashed plane there were 10 people on board and this statement was later changed to nine.
Today, 10th June, 2026 marks two years since the tragic plane crash occured , Malawians do not have answers, and are gathering in solemn remembrance and commemorating lives of innocent souls killed in the plane crash.No government officials attend memorial service for former VP Saulos Chilima
Writing on her Facebook page, Mary Nkhamanyachi Chilima says it’s now two years her love, two years without Dr. Chilima’s love, two years without his friendship, and two years without his protection, saying time is going, everyday without him is hard.
” Komabe pumulani bwino mwa Ambuye, tidzakomana kutsogolo” reads her writings on the wall.
Mary Chilima has wished the beloved souls of Dr. Saulosi Chilima, Mama Patricia Shanil Dzimbiri, Abdul Lapukeni, Chisomo Chimangeni, Dan Kanyemba, Colonel Owen Sambalopa, Major Flora Selemani Ngwirinji, and Major Wales Aidini to rest in peace.
Writing in his tribute to Dr. Saulosi Chilima, Grayson Bokosi Khamba, said Dr.
Chilima is gone but will never be forgotten claiming that his vision is still living on and his legacy is enduring.Dr Saulos Chilima Has Defeated MCP from the Grave:We Shall Never forgive Chakwera.
Khamba said though Dr. Chilima is no longer with Malawians physically, his legacy remains etched in the hearts of millions, his vision is guiding the people, his leadership is inspiring and his dream is challenging all to do more for their country.
He has urged Malawians regardless of political affiliations to unite in preserving the legacy of Dr. Saulosi Chilima, a leader who dedicated his life to public service and national development.

He said Malawians should not merely mourn Dr. Chilima’s passing but to celebrate and remember his courage, his humility, anr his determination that Malawi could achieve greater heights.

He has finally advised the UTM party that this is a moment to recommit themselves to the ideals and values upon which the Movement was founded.
