Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has called on Malawians to unite and support fellow citizens returning from South Africa under the government’s repatriation initiative, describing the moment as a test of national solidarity and compassion.

The founder of the Christian Enlightened Gathering (CEG) made the appeal following the arrival of several Malawians who have been affected by xenophobic attacks and related challenges in South Africa.Bushiri Pledges Support for Football Development in Ntcheu

Speaking on the plight of the returnees, Bushiri said many have returned home carrying deep emotional and physical scars after experiencing discrimination, violence, and the loss of businesses, jobs, and investments.

“This is a moment for unity,” Bushiri said. “Many of our brothers and sisters have come back home after enduring difficult circumstances. They need our support, encouragement, and practical assistance as they begin a new chapter in their lives.”

Drawing from his own experience, Bushiri said he understands the pain and uncertainty faced by those who have been forced to leave behind their livelihoods and start afresh.Prophet Shepherd Bushiri Pledges to Sponsor Dedza Dynamos

He recalled that he too had to return to Malawi after facing hostility and threats while in South Africa, making him particularly sympathetic to the challenges confronting the returnees.

Despite the hardships they have endured, Bushiri encouraged the returnees not to lose hope, emphasizing that Malawi remains a land of opportunity where individuals can rebuild their lives through faith, resilience, determination, and hard work.

He further appealed to the government to create avenues that would enable individuals, churches, businesses, community organizations, and well-wishers to contribute meaningfully toward the reintegration and restoration of those returning home.

“Many people are willing to help and contribute meaningfully to the reintegration and restoration of those who have returned home. I will be one of them,” he said.Bushiri Applauds Mutharika’s Visionary Address, Calls It Clear, Action-Oriented and Hope-Giving

Bushiri also commended the government for spearheading the repatriation exercise, saying the initiative demonstrates a commitment to the welfare of Malawians affected by challenges abroad.

He expressed optimism that through collective effort and national unity, Malawi can transform the hardships faced by the returnees into a story of hope, recovery, and renewed opportunity.

As the repatriation exercise continues, Bushiri’s message serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion, solidarity, and community support in helping vulnerable citizens rebuild their lives and contribute to the nation’s development.
