After visiting farming communities that have been affected by a dry spell in Karonga District, President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera have left the Northern Region of Malawi to continue with other government engagements in Lilongwe.
Addressing people that gathered at Katoto Roundabout earlier in the day, the Malawi leader said he is concerned with the increasing occurrences of natural disasters in Karonga and other parts of the country as a result of climate change.
Dr Chakwera said there is hope for all Malawians if they work together.
“Unity is key in achieving the country’s development agenda. Malawians must have hope in these hard times,” said Dr Chakwera.
Minister of Defence Harry Mkandawire, Minister of Local Government, Richard Chimwendo Banda, Mayor for Mzuzu City, Gift Nyirenda, MCP Regional Chairman Joseph Chavula among other dignitaries led people to see off the first couple.
