Mzuzu City Hammers are confident of securing a top-six finish in the TNM Super League this season, following their impressive goalless draw against defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
The result has quashed social media speculation that the team might struggle to avoid relegation due to coaching staff’s alleged inability to cope with pressure.
Head Coach Kondwa Ikwanga vowed to prepare his team mentally and physically to maximize points from remaining fixtures. “The competition has reached a critical stage, requiring top-notch concentration. Losing focus now would be devastating.”
Always calm, Ikwanga who holds a bachelor’s degree in arts majoring dignity has all along been studying his team, now plans paid off against Bullets, having conducted a thorough game observations in their previous two matches.
His tactics frustrated Bullets, forcing Coach Calisto Pasuwa to substitute top striker Babatounde Adepoju, effectively neutralized by Hammers’ defensive stalwart Chikumbutso Henderson who won the man of the match accolade.
Coach Ikwanga’s tactical acumen and players’ determination have revitalized Hammers’ top-six ambitions. With 10 games remaining, they aim to capitalize on momentum and secure a coveted top-six finish.
