The atmosphere at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre is electric, with a sense of jubilation and anticipation hanging in the air.
As the clock struck 6 a.m., thousands of enthusiastic Malawians from all walks of life had already converged on the stadium gates.
They were eager to secure prime seats for the highly anticipated swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and Vice President-elect Justice Dr. Jane Ansah.
The excitement is complemented by vibrant dances and a grand parade, setting the tone for a momentous occasion that promises to be an unforgettable experience.
As the nation gathers to witness this historic event, the air is alive with energy and expectation.
In random interviews with attendees at the stadium, Jabesi Phiri, a resident of Ndirande Township, expressed his excitement about being part of this historic moment.
“This is my first time to witness the ceremony, and I am overexcited to see the transition of power,” said Phiri.
Joyce Ntamiza, a proud resident of Mbayani, echoed similar sentiments, her eyes shining with anticipation.
“I am happy to witness the transfer of power, and I am optimistic about the future and the impact the new government will have on our lives,” she said.
The Malawi Electoral Commission declared Prof. Mutharika as President-elect and Justice Dr. Ansah as Vice President-elect following their victory in the September 16, 2025, presidential election.
