First Lady has hailed the Lions Club for its outstanding humanitarian efforts in Malawi, describing the organisation as a beacon of hope for vulnerable communities across the country.

Speaking on Friday during the opening of the Lions Multiple District 412 Convention at in Salima, the First Lady praised the club’s commitment to improving lives through healthcare, disaster relief and community development initiatives.

Mutharika highlighted the significant role Lions hospitals have played in restoring sight to many Malawians and assisting communities affected by the devastating 2019 floods and the 2023 disaster.

The First Lady also emphasized the importance of partnerships between humanitarian organisations and government in addressing social and economic challenges facing communities.

Speaking during the convention, commended the First Lady for championing the Beautify Malawi (BEAM) Trust, an initiative focused on environmental sustainability, sanitation and public health improvement.

Meanwhile, said the Lions Club continues to nurture leaders who serve with integrity in both the public and private sectors.

The Lions Multiple District 412 Convention has brought together delegates from across the region to discuss service projects, leadership and strategies aimed at strengthening humanitarian work in Africa.
