As Creck Sporting battles to revive its fortunes in the FDH Bank Premiership, all eyes are now on newly appointed interim coach Chisomo Nkhoma, who has been entrusted with the responsibility of steering the club back on course.

Nkhoma takes over from Eliya Kananji and his assistant Harrison Saidi, who were suspended following a string of disappointing results that left the club searching for answers.CRECK Sporting Club appoints Joseph Kamwendo as new head coach

Her appointment has attracted widespread attention across Malawi’s football fraternity, not only because of the challenges facing Creck Sporting but also because she becomes one of the very few women to coach a men’s top-flight football team in the country.

Sports analyst Frank Wenga Namakonje believes Nkhoma’s success will depend on her confidence, determination, and ability to inspire the squad during a difficult period.

Speaking to TVI, Namakonje described the appointment as both a challenge and an opportunity. While some football followers have questioned whether Nkhoma can turn around the team’s fortunes, he said the role presents a unique platform for her to prove her coaching credentials at the highest level of domestic football.Kalindo thanks government for accepting fuel crisis in Malawi

“This is an opportunity for her to make history and demonstrate that women coaches have the capacity to lead men’s teams competing in elite leagues,” Namakonje observed.

Nkhoma is no stranger to high-level coaching. She currently serves as head coach of Malawi’s Under-17 Women’s National Team, where she has earned praise for her commitment to youth development and tactical discipline.

Her appointment at Creck Sporting marks another important milestone for women’s football in Malawi. She becomes only the second woman to coach a men’s team in the country’s top football structures, following Caren Chauya, who previously guided Ntopwa FC.

For Creck Sporting supporters, however, the focus remains on results. The club will be hoping that the change in leadership can spark improved performances and help the team climb the league table.Another Day Light Robbery At Ministry Of Gender Involving Creck Hardware

As Nkhoma begins her tenure, she carries not only the hopes of Creck Sporting fans but also the aspirations of many women in football who see her appointment as evidence that opportunities at the highest level are gradually becoming more accessible.

The coming weeks will reveal whether Nkhoma can deliver the turnaround Creck Sporting desperately needs, but her appointment has already become one of the most significant stories of the current FDH Bank Premiership season.FDH Bank resumes sports sponsorships after stakeholder engagements
