Suleman Chitera has taken a swipe at the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), saying the party should keep quiet and reflect on its failures instead of constantly acting as though it has answers to the country’s problems.
Chitera said MCP had miserably failed and should accept responsibility for its record rather than attempting to lecture others on leadership and governance.
He argued that a party that has failed to meet people’s expectations should first reflect on where things went wrong before criticising others.
“Sometimes, silence is better than making noise. MCP should accept its failure, reflect and give others a chance,” said Chitera.
He added that Malawians deserve political leaders who demonstrate accountability, humility and the ability to learn from past mistakes.
Chitera’s remarks come amid continued political exchanges between the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the opposition MCP.
He maintained that political criticism should not be used to distract from a party’s own record, insisting that accountability must begin at home.
His message to MCP is blunt: accept the failure, learn from it and stop behaving as though you did everything right.
