Telecommunications company TNM has donated K20 million towards Malawi’s cybersecurity preparedness ahead of the 2026 National Cybersecurity Conference and Drill scheduled for October 27.
The sponsorship was handed over to the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) to support efforts to strengthen the country’s ability to prevent and respond to cyber threats.
TNM Customer Experience Director Nicole Meki said collaboration among telecommunications operators, regulators and other stakeholders was essential in combating cybercrime and protecting digital systems.
MACRA Head of Procurement and Supply Chain Joseph Ngalawa warned that cyberattacks could disrupt essential services, expose sensitive information and undermine public confidence.
The conference and drill, led by the Malawi Computer Emergency Response Team (mwCERT), aim to strengthen national cyber resilience through collaboration, preparedness and improved responses to cybersecurity incidents.
