Two Chinese nationals arrested for assaulting employee

Two Chinese nationals, Allen Cheng 37 and Peng Yongqia 35 are behind bars for assaulting their employee for suspecting him to have stolen fuel in Chikwawa.

Chikwakwa Police Deputy Publicist, Chancy Mfune confirmed the development to Our News Platform Mw.

He identified the victim as Silaj Maluwa 37 from Sadulo, Village Traditional Authority Katunga in Chikwawa District.

Mfune said that on 14th April 2024 Maluwa went to work at one of canal construction sites, a project under Shire valley transformation.

“This was where he was alleged to have stolen fuel from the machine which he was operating and was assaulted.

“The victim was found by his colleagues lying unconscious along the earth road that connects to the Chinese camp,” he said.

He added that the matter was reported at Chikwawa police station and the victim was referred to Chikwawa District Hospital where he was admitted.

Preliminary investigations were done by Chikwawa Police Criminal investigation Department team which led to the arrest of the two suspects.

Meanwhile the victim is still hospitalized and according to the health practitioners Maluwa sustained left arm fracture.
