We Will Take the Matter to Court to Stop Chakwera from Continuing as MCP President – Major”
By Our Reporter
One of the senior officials of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Alex Major, has said he will go to court to seek an injunction to stop Chakwera from continuing as the party’s president.
He said some people in the party are misleading Chakwera into believing that he can win government again in 2024, which he said is impossible because, according to him, the things Chakwera has done while in power have made people lose trust in him.

He said it has never happened before that a ruling party lost so many votes in the Central Region as has happened now.
He added that Chakwera should learn from the late John Tembo, who also refused to step down, which caused MCP to stay in opposition for a long time. He said if Chakwera truly wants the party to return to power, he should step aside and allow others to take over.
