Leader of Opposition in Parliament Honourable Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa, MP, on Saturday, October 29, 2022 took time off his busy schedule to visit civil rights activists that were arrested following anti-government demonstrations held in Lilongwe on Friday, October 28, 2022.
The arrested protestors have so for been detained in various police stations in Lilongwe.
Honourable Dr. Nankhumwa, who also serves as Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President responsible for the Southern Region, visited one of the demonstration leaders, Salima-based Joshua Chisa Mbele who is being held at Namitete Police Station, 48 kilometers west of the Capital City, and Levy Luwemba who is being held at Nathenje Police station 30 kilometers South of the city.

Honourable Dr. Nankhumwa encouraged both Mbele and Luwemba as well as the rest of the detainees to remain strong, pledging his personal support as they pursue their freedom and that of all Malawians.
Meanwhile, the arrested protestors are yet to be charged.
