Cyclone Freddy Cripples Health Service Delivery

Blantyre District Health Office has appealed for more support to enable the provision of quality healthcare services.

Director of Health and Social Services for the district Dr Gift Kawalazira made the plea when Ipas Malawi, donated medical and non-medical supplies worth K10 million to the office.

The items include fuel, male condoms, and Albendazole tablets.

According to Dr Kawalazira, the recent disaster has compromised health service delivery in the district.

“The disaster has strained our human resources, medical supplies and vehicles among others,” said Dr Kawalazira.

He has since commended Ipas for the donation.

Ipas Country Representative, Clement Kolove, said the gesture is meant to enable women access proper sexual reproductive health services in camps.
