Blantyre, May 5: Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Jean Sendeza has commended Aquaid Lifeline Organisation for uplifting the welfare of vulnerable children in the country.
Aquaid Lifeline, a charitable organization, provides food, shelter, school neccessities and vocational skills to orphaned children with disabilties and those in conflict with the law with the aim of building a better future for them.
Speaking after appreciating Aquaid Lifeline structures and services on Thursday in Traditional Authority Kapeni in Blantyre, Sendeza observed that the country has so many vulnerable children that need love, care and other social protection services for survival.
“My ministry cannot do everything alone. We need partners like Aquaid Lifeline to complement our efforts,” Sendeza said.
She reiterated that her ministry would intensify measures to protect children from all forms of abuse.
“I have embarked on a tour to inspect all organisations that deal with children, women or any other vulnerable group to ensure that their programmes align to the laws of the country as far as protecting the rights of such vulnerable groups is concerned.
Aquaid Lifeline Head of Welfare Programmes, Chisangalalo Ntonio said the organisation has about 3,000 beneficiaries in eight districts of the country that are benefiting from child care and other mainstreaming programmes in areas of health and agriculture.
Ntonio, therefore, commended the minister for visiting the place to appreciate the services being offered by the organisation.
He, however, appealed to well-wishers to support the organisation’s interventions to continue making life better for the children.
