A 34-year-old Pharmacy Assistant at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) has been arrested in connection with the theft and supply of medical drugs and products, which were recovered last week at Lilongwe Main Market from three illegal pharmacy dealers.
Chikumbutso Ngilazi, a resident of Mgawa Village, Traditional Authority Mlolo in Nsanje District, was taken into custody by Lilongwe Police after an intelligence-led investigation revealed his involvement in the illicit trade.
The arrest follows the seizure of large quantities of assorted medical drugs and the subsequent arrest of Hardson Malenga, 65, and his daughter Reginna Stander, 31, who were found selling the drugs at Lilongwe Main Market.
Ngilazi, who has worked at KCH for 13 years, initially as a Laundry Attendant and currently as a Pharmacy Assistant, has admitted to selling medical drugs such as Panadol, Amoxylin, and Buffen to Reginna Stander for almost a year.
He will soon appear in court to face charges of Theft by Public Servant.
