Premier League star willing to take pay cut to join Arsenal on deadline day

With less than 48 hours remaining until the end of the transfer market, one Premier League star is willing to take a pay cut to join Arsenal

Arsenal could still make a late addition to their squad before the summer transfer window closes on Friday, with reports suggesting that an experienced Premier League star is open to taking a pay cut to join Mikel Arteta’s project at the Emirates.

The Gunners have had a relatively quiet transfer window, with only a few significant additions. They have secured the signings of Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino, and made David Raya’s loan move from Brentford permanent earlier this summer.

However, Arsenal have also seen several departures, including Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira, with the latter rejoining FC Porto on loan. Eddie Nketiah is on the verge of joining Premier League side Crystal Palace before the transfer deadline, and Southampton have agreed to a £25 million deal for the permanent transfer of Aaron Ramsdale.

In their quest to strengthen the squad, Arsenal reportedly made a £17 million bid for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, which was rejected by the Spanish club. While Mikel Arteta may be focused on securing a new goalkeeper, Arsenal fans are eager to see a forward added to the team.

Recent reports have linked Arsenal with a potential reunion between Arteta and Raheem Sterling, who worked together during their time at Manchester City. Sterling, who has struggled for consistent playing time at Chelsea following the arrival of manager Enzo Maresca,

The Italian has informed Sterling that he is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and has been offered to several clubs in England.

According to Teamnewsandtix via Patreon, Sterling is willing to take a pay cut to join Arsenal this summer. “Arsenal have been offered Raheem Sterling; he is willing to accept a pay cut, and Arsenal have made him an offer. Arsenal currently do not want to pay a fee, similar to other clubs interested. It is not clear if Chelsea will be willing to terminate his contract.”

Despite the speculation, Arteta has downplayed the possibility of reuniting with Sterling at Arsenal. “No, but I can talk about my time with Raheem. It was exceptional; we built a really strong relationship together,” Arteta said.

“He was unbelievable during the time we were together, and he taught me a lot as well—about individuals, how they play, and how we support and help them. He’s someone I have a really strong feeling about
