Ekhaya FC have leapfrogged Karonga United into third place on the TNM Super League table following a convincing 2-0 home win at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The victory came courtesy of an early goal from Chimwemwe Yasin, who found the back of the net in the seventh minute to give the CowBoys a dream start.
Clever Chikwata sealed the win with a 94th minute goal, ensuring all three points stayed in Blantyre.
The win pushed Ekhaya FC up two spots on the 16-team log table, bringing their total to 12 points from six matches played.
They have now registered four wins and two losses, an impressive tally in their debut season.
Ekhaya’s 12 points tally is equal to that of second-placed Mighty Wanderers, but the latter maintain the upper hand on goal difference and have a game in hand.
At the top of the table, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets continue their perfect start with 15 points from five consecutive wins.
Karonga United, on the other hand, have dropped from third to fifth place following the loss.
They now have nine points from six games, with three wins and three losses to their name.
In a separate fixture played at Aubrey Dimba Stadium, Creck Sporting Club and Kamuzu Barracks played out a goalless draw.
The result saw Creck Sporting climb out of the relegation zone, moving from 15th to 14th with five points from six games.
Mzuzu City Hammers, who had previously occupied 14th place, were displaced as a result.
Kamuzu Barracks remain in fourth place with 10 points from their six outings, maintaining a strong early-season form.
The weekend’s matches continue to shake up the early standings in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive 2025 TNM Super League season.
