Kamphangala claims Malawi is not safe for opposition and activists

By Vincent Gunde

A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has claimed that Malawi is not safe for opposition parties, supporters and activists holding peaceful demonstrations advising them to sit down and find an another alternative of expressing their concerns and grievances other than holding demonstrations.

Kamphangala said the ugly scenes that happened in Lilongwe on Thursday where activist Sylvester Namiwa was severe beaten up by MCP armed youth operatives who masked their faces in full view of Malawi Police Service (MPS) and Malawi Defense Force (MDF) officers, is speaking for itself that demonstrations are not wanted in Malawi and democracy has gone to the dogs.

He has advised opposition political parties and activists not to proceed holding peaceful demonstrations in the country and instead boycott the 16th September, 2025 elections by informing the international community and donors of the reasons to boycott the elections.

The MCP diehard said opposition parties and activists must write a joint a letter to the United Nations reporting the Malawi Government on how it is handling demonstrators claiming that every time there are peaceful demonstrations, MCP thugs are on the site for disruptions.

He said the organizers of the protests in Lilongwe were lawfully granted permission by the Lilongwe District Commissioner to hold their demonstrations in the City only to see MCP youth operatives disrupting their planned protests describing this as primitive politics not matching with today’s life.

Kamphangala has appealed to MCP peace-loving members and supporters to rise up and speak with one voice condemning the MCP and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for doing nothing towards disciplining MCP thugs who have reached a state of targeting activists for death.

He has asked MDF Commander General Dr. Paul Velentino Phiri to demonstrate to Malawians and the world that MDF is non-partisan claiming that MCP thugs cannot be displaying pangas while masking their faces in full view of them and without doing nothing.

The MCP diehard said memories are still fresh of General Vincent Nundwe that he handled the MDF with professionalism claiming that in the 2019 electoral justice in court demonstrations, he stood on the side of the people.

“Today, Police officers and MDF officers are standing together with MCP thugs clearly speaking for itself that the country has MCP Police and MCP MDF,” said Kamphangala.

He has now turn his eyes to opposition leaders to halt their campaign rallies ahead of the 16th September, 2025 elections for their safety advising them to boycott the elections for the MCP and President Chakwera to rule the country until God comes to provide his judgement.

Kamphangala has finally appealed to opposition party leaders to tell their supporters to remain in their respective houses on the 16th September, 2025 so that the MCP and their thugs vote for themselves into government to fulfill their wish of bouncing back into government under the sponsorship of terror.
