Kabambe demands Chakwera to fire Homeland Minister and Police Chief

United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, has demanded President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to immediately fire Homeland Minister Ezekiel Ching’oma and Police Chief Madam Yolamu after security forces failed to protect activist Sylvester Namiwa from MCP violent attacks in Lilongwe on Thursday.

Namiwa, was one of the organizers of the Lilongwe demonstrations to force Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja and Chief Elections Officer Andrew Mpesi to resign for clinging to the use of Smartmatic machine and not allowing independent auditors verifying the voters’ roll for the 16th September, 2025 elections.

Namiwa was man-handled, beaten up and had his clothes torn apart and this was in full view of police officers and Malawi Defense Force (MDF) soldiers who were just watching standing in their armored vehicle without rescuing him from the attackers.

Speaking during an evening news conference held in Blantyre, Dr. Kabambe backed the calls for Mtalimanja and Mpesi to resign claiming that ever since the country witnessed the first democratic elections in 1994, southern region has been toppling the number of registered voters.

Dr. Kabambe challenged Mec that the National Statistical Office (NSO) data, the southern region of Malawi has more number of people than the central region of Malawi and there is no way the central region could register more number of people than the south.

A Concerned citizen of Malawi Mrs. Lezinat Kalindang’oma of Nanjiri in Lilongwe writing on her face book page, has asked the DPP to swallow its pride to form an alliance with Dr. Dalitso Kabambe claiming that it is only DPP-UTM Alliance which can see off MCP Alliance into the grave on the 16th September, 2025 elections.

Kalindang’oma said the ugly scenes which happened in Lilongwe when MCP thugs targeted to kill Namiwa in front of security forces, should teach them a great lesson that next, are them and this demand a strong alliance between the two parties.

She has appealed to Justice Annabel Mtalimanja and Andrew Mpesi to let the will of Malawians be supreme, their interest to declare President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera the winner, be the second to serve the country from plunging into political violence after elections results announcement.

The woman has made it clear that Malawians cannot go into elections which have already been decided to favor President Chakwera and the MCP to bounce back into government assuring President Chakwera that his victory will be disputed by 20 million citizens in Malawi.

“The writings are clear on the wall that counting of votes manually, President Chakwera will fall miserably not painful, this is why they are clinging in to Smartmatic machines and saying “no” to independent auditors,” said Mrs. Kalindang’oma.
