President Donald j Trump of the United States of America (USA) says he has received distress news from a distance place in Africa-Malawi, sending a strong message to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera that he is watching him.
Writing on his face book page, Trump says it is either democracy or hell breaks loose for President Chakwera observing that sadly, the military, guessing it as MDF is falling for political manipulation saying it is sad and be warned Chakwera.
European Union Ambassador to Malawi Rune Skinnebach, has sent a warning to the Government of Malawi that the EU can withdraw support for police and MDF trainings in Malawi following violent attacks on peaceful demonstrators in Lilongwe on Thursday.
Skinnebach has said the EU has been giving support to military and police trainings but they seem not to make good use of it claiming that they don’t play their roles saying he is expecting a thorough investigation to identify and hold those responsible accountable.
He has condemned in strongest terms possible the incident which saw activist Sylvester Namiwa being man-handled, beaten severely by MCP youth operatives in full view of police and MDF officers who did not bother to rescue him only standing and watching while they were in their armored vehicles.
“I was shocked, disappointed and disgusted by the events in Lilongwe,” said Skinnebach.
Former President Dr. Bakili Muluzi has expressed his grave concern over the democracy he championed that is not this one which the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is taking Malawians to saying security personnel are trained to protect and serve the public not a political party in government.
Dr. Muluzi has called for immediate investigations to identify the culprits who masked their faces and unleashing terror to Namiwa in full view of police and military officers describing the incident as regrettable.
“Why were the police there? They could have just remained in their offices, this is a recipe for more political violence if left unchecked,” he said.
One of the organizers of the Citizens for Credible Elections demonstrations in Lilongwe Comrade Edwards Kambanje, has joined calls for thorough investigations to identify all those who assaulted Sylvester Namiwa who is battling for his life at an unknown hospital receiving treatment.
A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has claimed that people have the identities of those that targeted activist Namiwa for death saying what is needed is for the court to issue Arrest Warrants to the attackers.
Kamphangala has pleaded with patriotic lawyers to join hands in making sure that these MCP thugs are brought to book, arrested and prosecuted in a court of law claiming that it is high time they started abusing, and hacking innocent people in Malawi under the protection of the M
