Political activist Bon Kalindo has advised Chiefs, teachers and individuals in and surrounding Blantyre district to be ready for President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s free for all K50,000s which he has been distributing in Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Mangochi State Lodges.
Kalindo has urged them to receive the monies they did not asked for but to be always reminded that voting for him and the MCP to bounce back into government will be adding more miseries to the people of Malawi that already have no hope for a better tomorrow.
He has described the 61st Independence anniversary as MCPs 6th July celebrations claiming that if that was a national event, opposition party leaders could have attended and there could have been no party colors for the MCP.
Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said Malawi is a cursed nation claiming that some other clever people will use the money allocated for the 6th July celebrations to build mansions in towns and buying trucks while the people are sleeping with empty stomachs.
Kalindo said it is sad that the 61st Independence anniversary have been held in a situation where the country’s hospitals are sending back home patients due to no medical drugs a development putting more lives of patients at risk.
He said the celebrations were held with leaders without shame and passion for the country claiming that employees are receiving low salaries per month which cannot match with today’s cost of living and the country is living on begging money for its survival.
The activist has lamented that since the dawn of multi-party politics and democracy in Malawi in 1994 parties that have been coming in have been politicizing national events as party events saying this development need mindset change.
“The country cannot heal, each and every party coming in take national events as a political party show where its members are dressing in party colors,” said Kalindo.
He has appealed to government to come in to the rescue of contractors and suppliers to receive their dues before the country hold the 16th September, 2025 elections claiming that some contractors are losing their property to creditors.
He alleged that K11 billion which was spent for conducting a memorial service for Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, in the Chikangawa forest could have been used to bail out all contractors and suppliers for them to start a new life but this has not happened.
The activist said the money which was spent for an all MCP 61st Independence anniversary celebrations could have again help to pay contractors, suppliers and Senior Health Surveillance Assistants who from 2017 have not received their dues beside the court siding with them.
