UTM Party torchbearer Dr. Dalitso Kabambe has pledged to bring Malawi’s economy back to life by reviving the country’s once-thriving industrial sector if elected in the upcoming election.
Addressing thousands at a rally in Chinsapo, Lilongwe, Kabambe lamented the collapse of Malawi’s industries, saying their mysterious disappearance had dragged the economy backward. He emphasized that industrialization will be a cornerstone of his administration.
“To transform Malawi, we must go back to building industries. That is how we create jobs, boost exports, and empower citizens,” said Kabambe.
He unveiled five key policies aimed at fixing the economy—chief among them a 5 billion kwacha annual investment in agriculture, and a tough stance against corruption.
Joining him on the ticket is Dr. Matheus Mtumbuka, who was officially introduced as his running mate. Mtumbuka expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity, noting that Kabambe chose him from many capable party members.
“I am humbled by the trust, and I promise to work closely with the leadership and ensure we deliver on our vision,” said Mtumbuka.
With this powerful duo at the helm, UTM appears ready to shake up Malawi’s political and economic landscape.
