Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) has announced that power generation at Nkula A and Nkula B Power Stations has been fully restored following the completion of scheduled maintenance conducted on Sunday.
In a statement, the company revealed that water levels at the Nkula intake have now been normalized, allowing both power stations to resume full operations and supply more power to the national grid. The restoration comes as a relief after a short period of reduced electricity supply caused by the planned shutdown.
EGENCO emphasized that the maintenance exercise was crucial for safeguarding the reliability and long-term efficiency of the country’s electricity generation infrastructure.
The power producer has assured Malawians of its ongoing commitment to delivering stable, efficient, and dependable energy to support national development and improve the country’s power supply security.
The restoration is expected to ease pressure on the grid and improve power availability for households, institutions, and industries across the country.
