Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has joined a growing list of Malawians who have welcomed and commended the State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President Arthur Peter Mutharika, describing it as clear, practical, and full of hope for the country.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Bushiri said the President’s address stood out for its clarity of purpose and realistic focus on key national priorities, including economic recovery, agriculture, good governance, and sustainable development. According to Bushiri, the President demonstrated not only an understanding of Malawi’s challenges, but also the readiness and resolve to confront them head-on.

He noted that President Mutharika’s articulation of economic strategies reflected a leader who is solution-driven and prepared to move beyond rhetoric into concrete action. Bushiri emphasised that the ideas presented were not theoretical promises, but practical plans that can restore confidence, stabilise the economy, and improve the livelihoods of ordinary Malawians if properly implemented.

Bushiri further stressed that for these well-thought-out plans to succeed, transparency and accountability must guide their execution. He called for unity of purpose and collaboration among political leaders, technocrats, and stakeholders, arguing that national development is best achieved when leaders work together in the interest of the people.

“The vision is clear. What remains is disciplined implementation, openness, and collective effort,” Bushiri observed, underscoring the importance of shared responsibility in national development.

Beyond politics, Bushiri is widely known for his involvement in initiatives aimed at fighting hunger, promoting self-reliance, and advancing community development. His endorsement therefore carries weight, particularly among citizens who value practical action over political posturing.

His remarks add to the broader national conversation sparked by President Mutharika’s address, with many Malawians viewing the speech as a message of reassurance at a time when the country is yearning for stability, economic recovery, and decisive leadership.

As the nation reflects on the President’s commitments, voices such as Bushiri’s reinforce the growing expectation that Malawi can move forward—provided leadership remains focused, transparent, and genuinely committed to delivering results for the people.
