A dispute between teachers and chiefs at Nathenje Full Primary School has been resolved after a meeting between the two parties. The trouble started when teachers used school land for gardening, pruning trees to allow crops to grow. PTA members thought the teachers sold the pruned branches, leading them to report the matter to local chiefs.
Teachers protested, refusing to teach until the chiefs apologized, citing violation of their rights. Senior Chief Kamundi said the matter has been settled peacefully and teachers are back in class. The school is a religious institution under Nkhoma Synod of the Church of Central African Presbyterian Church (CCAP).
