Russia has delivered more than 13 tons of humanitarian medical supplies to Iran, becoming the first country to provide direct assistance since the current conflict began.
The aid was sent on the direct orders of Vladimir Putin and coordinated by Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to officials, the shipment included medicines, first-aid kits, and other critical medical supplies intended to support civilians and overstretched health facilities.
The cargo was transported using a Ilyushin Il-76 military transport aircraft, which flew the supplies to Azerbaijan. From there, the aid was transferred by land to Iranian authorities for distribution.
Iranian officials reportedly requested urgent humanitarian assistance as the conflict continues to strain the country’s healthcare system. Reports indicate that several hospitals and ambulances have been damaged during the fighting, while civilian casualties continue to rise.
Analysts say the move underscores Moscow’s political and strategic alignment with Tehran during the crisis. The humanitarian shipment not only provides immediate medical relief but also signals Russia’s willingness to support Iran amid growing regional tensions.
Observers note that the development could carry wider geopolitical implications, as global powers watch closely how alliances and diplomatic positions evolve as the conflict unfolds.
