The Dowa District Council has created residential, commercial and institutional plots at Dowa Turn off ( Thambwe location – behind Chibvala Police Unit) which it is offering to the public in the district..

In a public notice of intent, the council said development charges will be payable within six months with an initial instalment of 50 percent of the development charge saying the plot will be formally allocated to the Applicant upon completion of payment of development charges within the stipulated period.

The Council has called upon interested individuals to apply through the application forms that can be obtained from the DCs office ( Lands office) and submission of filled application forms can be done at the same office with attached plot application deposit slip of a non – refundable fee of K25,000 and a photocopy of a National Identify Card.

” For any further inquiries, call the Director of Planning and Development on 0999562644, application period is valid for 21 days from the 30th April, 2026,” reads the public notice in part.

The Malawi Government is implementing the Regional Climate Resilience Program ( RCRP-2.2) with support from the World Bank, all councils in Malawi are expected to prepare a Spatial Plan for a selected and approved location.

The Spatial Plan project is for a year from June 2025/2026 but Dowa District Council has started implementing it in from April, 2026 and the whole project
is being implemented by various stakeholders: Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transport, Roads Authority, DoDMA, Ministry of Local Government Finance Committee, Ministry of Water and Sanitation etc.
