A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has advised the MCP to put its focus on rebuilding the party from destruction following the party’s miserable defeat in the September, 2025 elections.
Kamphangala said MCP did not expect to lose the September, 2025 elections, they did everything possible and even President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera himself made history of becoming Malawi’s first president during multiparty politics and democracy, to spend a night in lodges hunting for votes.BMTV calls Parliament to dissolve the MCP
The MCP diehard said this could be the best time for the party to hold an Indaba to discuss why the party lost the elections of 2025 and the way forward.
He said there are some people in the MCP who are thinking that since President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will only serve for one term in office to 2030 and retire from active politics, Chakwera will find an easy ride to bounce back into government in 2030 as he will not have a strong competitor.MCP, Chakwera files lawsuit against DPP, Mutharika
Kamphangala said truth to be told, Malawians in all the country’s regions said enough is enough with Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and there’s no way the very same people that said a big “no” to him to give him a second chance of running the country as President.
He said President Professor Mutharika was forced to stand in the September, 2025 elections after all Malawians regardless of regions, tribes, and religion endorsed him as the only one to liberate the country from the shackles of MCP dictatorship and quest for one – party state.

He said while it is true that the DPP led government is failing to deliver but people are still remembering that in the MCP things were very worse as compared to today, claiming that beside most Malawians are pocket less, food is cheaper, people are making informed choice of buying K1000 for maize flour or K1000 for a heap of sweet potatoes.

He said the misunderstandings and divisions that have rocked the MCP are as a result of not holding an emergency Convention saying this is the only way of rebuilding the party.
