Vice President Dr. Jane Mayemu Ansah has firmly dismissed reports suggesting a strained relationship between herself and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader and President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, describing the claims as baseless rumours designed to create unnecessary divisions within the party and government.

In a candid interview with Luntha Television, Dr. Ansah revealed that she has maintained consistent communication with President Mutharika, disclosing that she has submitted more than 70 formal memoranda to him during her tenure as Vice President.DPP’s Troubled History With Deputies Resurfaces With Jane Ansah

According to Dr. Ansah, the memoranda were aimed at updating the President on matters concerning her office, seeking guidance on important issues, and ensuring that government operations remain coordinated and accountable.

“I have written to the President on more than 70 occasions through formal memoranda seeking guidance, providing updates, and communicating important matters concerning my office. That is how I believe a loyal and responsible leader should operate,” she said.

The Vice President emphasized that her legal background has shaped her leadership style, particularly in matters of accountability, consultation, and proper record-keeping.

“As a legal practitioner and former judge, I understand the value of proper documentation, official correspondence, and consultation. These principles have guided my service and my relationship with President Mutharika,” she explained.Limpopo FM appeals to activists to respect Jane Ansah

Her remarks come amid growing speculation on social media that tensions existed between the country’s two most senior leaders. However, Dr. Ansah dismissed such narratives as politically motivated attempts to undermine unity within the DPP.

She stressed that her active participation in Cabinet meetings demonstrates the healthy working relationship that continues to exist between her office and that of the President.

Dr. Ansah further assured Malawians that her relationship with President Mutharika remains cordial and intact.

“The bond between the President and myself remains strong. People should not be misled by rumours circulating on social media. Those spreading such falsehoods are pursuing an agenda that does not reflect reality,” she stated.

Addressing questions regarding her role as Vice President, Dr. Ansah highlighted the constitutional framework under which the office operates, noting that the Vice President executes responsibilities delegated by the President.Ansah under fire: Msiska says power strip signals total loss of confidence

“Constitutionally, the Vice President works under delegated authority. It would therefore be unfair to assess performance based on responsibilities that have not been assigned. Whenever called upon to serve, I am always prepared to discharge my duties diligently and professionally,” she said.

The Vice President also expressed satisfaction with the progress the government has made in implementing key DPP policy commitments. She cited efforts aimed at improving access to education, strengthening food security, and promoting economic recovery as areas where significant strides have been made.

Reaffirming her commitment to the ruling party and the nation, Dr. Ansah said her focus remains on supporting the President’s vision and serving Malawians with dedication and integrity.

“My focus remains on supporting the leadership, contributing to national development, and serving Malawians to the best of my ability. I will continue to execute every responsibility entrusted to me with dedication, integrity, and a deep sense of duty,” she said.

Beyond politics, Dr. Ansah’s reputation has long been associated with honesty, discipline, and integrity.
