BCC Demolish Structures In Nkolokosa, BT

People who ply carpentry and joinery businesses at Nkolokosa in Blantyre got shocked this morning after finding their workshops allegedly demolished by the Blantyre City Council-BCC.

Reports say BCC officials escorted by armed police officers have demolished the workshops in the wee hours of today.

One of the victims, Bunnet Joseph, a carpenter says his property have in the course been demolished and some items stolen.

“Already made beds and woods are some of the things gone. It has devastated me as a business person since this was my only source of income,” he laments.

Another victim, Victor Lumpi says the council did not negotiate with the owners of the premises before embarking on the initiative.

He suggests an an alert could help to save some of the damaged property.

Blantyre City Council officials have not commented on the decision to demolish the structures.
