DPP To Elect Presidential Candidate At A Convention

By Suleman Chitera Oct9,2022

Mulhakho wa Alhomwe Patron Professor Peter Mutharika has urged those competing for the Democratic Progressive Party presidency to wait for the convention scheduled for July 2023 or leave the party and form their political parties if in haste.

Professor Mutharika said before December this year, he will call for a DPP National Governing Council meeting for a briefing on the new constitution of the party.

He said the delegates to the meeting will scrutinise the new constitution. He added that he will tell DPP followers on his stand whether to contest at the convention or not as he is still consulting.

DPP’s presidential aspirants Kondwani Nankhumwa, Bright Msaka, Joseph Mwanamveka and Dalitso Kabambe also attended the Mulhakho cultural celebration.

In the last convention, Prof. Mutharika was voted as the party’s president.

The first patron of Mulhakho wa Alhomwe was Professor Bingu wa Mutharika and the cultural celebration was initially held in October 2009.
