Farming Not For Poor People-Chakwera

President Lazarus Chakwera says time has come for Malawians to begin rejecting the misconception that farming is a vocation meant for the illiterate and the poor only.

He stresses the need for the country to also stop viewing farming as only for subsistence-growing enough just for consumption.

Chakwera has spoken this when conferring academic honours on 439 students for the Lilongwe University for Agriculture and Natural Resources-LUANAR this morning.

Earlier, LUANAR’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Kaunda indicated the institution is making serious investments towards research to help the country achieve its long-term development blueprint, Malawi 2063 agenda.

The graduation ceremony also coincides with the institution’s10th anniversary since its official opening in 2012
