Malawi Congress Party-MCP has fired its vocal member, Alex Major for allegedly undermining President Lazarus Chakwera’s Super HI-5 and portraying conduct incompatible with the party’s four cornerstones.
Senior party officials have further said that Major has been dismissed for questioning the party’s critical issues and government’s handling of governance matters.
Major, who chairs a grouping called General Membership of Malawi Congress Party, has declined to comment while MCP’s publicist, Maurice Munthali simply says he is trying to liaise with the party’s Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka before commenting.
He could not take further questions.
In December 2021, the party also fired Frank Chiwanda for breaching the four corner stones and failing to respect its governance structures.
