Mob Justice Rampart In Malawi

By Suleman Chitera Nov24,2022

Cases of mob justice refuse to die in the country as on Monday Mphanda Primary School learners in Nkhoma, Lilongwe allegedly assaulted and stoned to death a suspected thief identified as Masautso Felison, 31.

Later, they set his body ablaze.

Lilongwe Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu has confirmed the development; saying the incident happened in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Chitekwere in the district.

Felison is suspected to have stolen from the school 13 plastic chairs, solar battery and power inverter, among others.

“He was being taken to Nkhoma Police Unit passing by the said school. When the learners noticed him, they hijacked the community members and started assaulting and stoning the suspect to death and later set his body alight,” says Chigalu.

Poat-mortem results at Mtenthera Health Center indicated Felison had died due to severe head injuries.

The deceased hailed from Kadzidzi Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mazengera in Lilongwe.
