Lilongwe, 1 October 2025 – Malawi’s President-Elect, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, has raised serious concerns over reports of alleged corruption involving some government officials during the ongoing transition period.
In a statement released on 30th September 2025, and signed by his spokesperson Shadric Namalomba, the President-Elect stressed that any form of corruption undermines the principles of patriotism, breaches public trust, and is a direct violation of the law.
Mutharika warned that all officials found engaging in corrupt dealings or making irregular decisions during this transitional phase will face legal consequences. He further emphasized that any unlawful or questionable decisions made before his official swearing-in will be nullified once he assumes office.
“This conduct weakens public trust and violates the law. Those involved risk facing the full force of justice,” the statement read.
