The Flames’ current most capped player right-back Stanley Sanudi and attacking midfielder Chimwemwe Idana have been side-lined from the Flames squad to face Burundi and Burkina Faso next week following a disciplinary incident that happened in Dakar, Senegal after Malawi lost to Lions of Teranga in 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Group L qualifier.
The Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Silvers Strikers players missed part of the post match dressing room pep talk after Malawi lost 4-0 to the hosts.
The star-struck Flames senior players rushed to meet Sadio Mane and his teammates in the Lions of Teranga dressing room where they exchanged jerseys and took pictures with the rivals.

This happened while their teammates were meeting in Flames dressing room and the duo only arrived midway through the post-mortem.
Former coach Patrick Mabedi whipped the two players by dropping them in the return leg played at Bingu National Stadium which Malawi lost 0-1.
Now the two players have also been dropped by the newly appointed interim technical panel headed by Kallisto Pasuwa and assistant coach Peter Mponda.
Meanwhile, it is not clear whether the two will formally appear before a disciplinary hearing or if they will simply be left in the dark over their fate.
