Deputy Minister of Health Honorable Halima Daud-MP on Friday joined the global world in commemorating international fistula day and launched the National Obstetric fistula strategy 2023-2030 at Kasakala school ground in Ntchisi. Among other things the strategy will guide implementation of interventions towards fistula with an aim of preventing and ending fistula in Malawi. Honorable Deputy Minister reaffirmed the Malawi government’s commitment in supporting fistula programs management and rehabilitation to be part of the policies and Strategic interventions for sustainability. According to official sources, Daudi, who was in the district, said the people of Likoma need the Icelandic International Development Agency (Iceida) projects support to improve their livelihoods. She mentioned poor transport and communication infrastructure, limited access to health care services, poor education services, poor governance, narrow revenue base for the local council and inadequate human resources as some of the challenges the district is currently facing. Minister of Local Government, Blessings Chinsinga, has declared government's support towards the implementation of Goshen City in line with Malawi's 2063 aspirations of secondary cities. "I'm overwhelmed with what I have seen. Goshen City is historic in developing and transforming Malawi. We will therefore support the realisation of the vision to prioritise Monkeybay in secondary cities plan", said Chinsinga when he toured the construction of the city in Monkeybay.
