Police in Dowa are keeping two men in custody for allegedly stealing railway materials.

Dowa Police Spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha, has identified the duo as Gerald Stanley aged 39, and Mika Chitsulo, 32 and were arrested Saturday night at Chisonga village in Traditional Authority Chiwere in the district.

M’bumpha has explained that during time, community policing members were conducting patrols along the railway line and that in the wee hours, they saw a motor vehicle registration number KK 9250 which was loading eleven bags of the said materials.

According to M’bumpha, the community Policing members then informed the police who rushed to the scene and arrested the two suspects.
