Female police officers at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) say they are set to ensure professionalism in their three day-long operation dubbed “Operation BASAD” scheduled from Wednesday to Friday this week.
Operation BASAD is an operation where female police officers engage in various operations routinely done together with their male counterparts in crumping down on any suspected criminal activity especially violence against women and children.
In an interview, Second In- charge KIA, Superintendent Meyas Banda says the women in uniform have lined up a number of activities to be undertaken during the three-day long operation to help crack down all wanted person’s including child traffickers, illegal drug dealers, illegal migrants and all crimes at the airport.
“We feel it pivotal to join our fellow women in uniform in the region to turn back cases against women and children. We have mounted roadblocks and intensified security checks in all strategic places around the airport,” said Banda.
