A Pan-Africanist and Revolutionary leader Bantu Saunders Jumah, says Malawi will forever be a democracy saying Malawi Defense Force (MDF), Malawi Police Service (MPS), Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) and National Registration Bureau (NRB) cannot and will not change this.
Jumah has claimed that there is an audio clip making rounds across the country stating plans by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to remain in power after 16th September, 2025 with the help of Mec Commissioner chaired by Justice Annabel Mtalimanja, MDF and MPS, advising patriotic Malawians not to take this clip lightly.
He said MCP has experienced this by trying to silence the country from rising up and question the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, having succeeded to silence the country through arrests and detention of anyone who speaks out about the plane crash, MCP is satisfied that its muscles are unanswerable.
Writing through a statement, Jumah said with the silencing of people through arrests and detentions, one cannot ignore the audio where Mec will declare President Chakwera to be the winner depending on MDF Commander General Dr. Paul Velentino Phiri as he is looking directly involved in politics more than General Nundwe and Mathanga.
Jumah said the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, is one disaster that has been politicized saying it was supposed to be neutral government departments in Malawi Police and MDF investing the circumstances surrounding it.
He said citizens of Africa are enlightened and aware that politicians are gullible for their taxes than developing their nations, they have it in their own hands to protect and defend their democracy saying this is the case of Mozambique, where citizens do not want Frelimo because politicians in the party have forgotten the aspirations and expectations of the people.
The Pan-Africanist said Mozambicans have shown their power in the midst of heavy presence of the instruments of government, military, and police, they have defied the police and the military and stopped the country from moving forward.
He said Malawi is fully a democracy where if people are to judge who holds power, are the people not politicians saying this is why democratic President Dr. Bakili Muluzi failed to run third-term and so too, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
“This must teach President Chakwera and MCP a biggest lesson to know that the will of the people is supreme, any involvement of the military, police, electoral body to rig elections, is graveous mistake that can lead to the prosecution of the party and leader in MCP,” reads part of the statement.
Jumah said the MCP must know that citizens of Malawi got fooled when parliamentarians were allowed to serve unlawfully 6 years in the National Assembly when their term of office had ended on the 21st May, 2024.
He has warned the authorities in Malawi that the silence was not a sign of stupidity or foolishness but because the citizens had hope in the new President Chakwera and the late Dr. Saulosi Chilima and to hear that MDF, MPS and Mec plan to keep this MCP government in power through force, poses a threat to the country’s hard-earned democracy.
The Revolutionary leader has finally advised Force Inspector General Mrs. Merlylin Yolamu, MDF Commander General Dr. Paul Velentino Phiri that they will be judged harshly if they are falling into politics siding with the MCP and not the people, trade carefully, Democracy of Malawi lives and will forever live.
