Former Kasungu West parliamentarian Alex Major who for five years of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and the MCP turned him as a neglected stone, is now in the hearts of many MCP members and supporters that he has taken the party for factory setting.
Many current MCP leaders have been accusing Major of planting seeds of destruction and confusion in the party through his effort for the party to hold an emergency Convention to decide the way forward following the party’s early exit from government on the 16th September, 2025 Elections.
Major’s efforts have not gathered dust, some MCP senior members who once worked in the Office of President Dr. Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and NEC members without resigning from their positions, are being seen canvassing for votes a clear indication that the MCP will hold an early convention not as that planned for 2029 with an agenda of endorsing Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to be the party’s 2030 Elections torchbearer.
An inside source speaking through an audio clip circulating in various media platforms, has thanked Alex Major for his courage of revamping and rebuilding the MCP so that victory be on its side in the 2030 elections.
The source said the press conference which recently was organized by members of the party, has led to many expressing their interests to support Major to lead the MCP as President come 2030 elections.
He said it is sad that some senior MCP members are busy canvassing for votes splashing out their money to the voters to be voted for during the party’s emergency Convention questioning why coming this time since they were in the forefront castigating and insulting Major as planting seeds of disunity in the party?
The source has claimed that many are coming to his in box encouraging him to continue speaking nothing but the truth that the new MCP to be born after the party’s convention will not take on board those who failed the party in the September, 2025 elections.
” They have been deceiving Chakwera that all is good in the country while things were worse in Malawi, these people must rest be assured, not to be given positions in the party,” he said.
The source said many in the party are throwing their weight on Alex Major and others, to be part of the MCP rebuilding team with the hope that them being taken as outcasts in the five years of Chakwera in government, will be good leaders to lead the MCP to victory in the 2030 elections.
He has assured all those on a shopping free for votes that this time is for Alex Major and others, saying Major is fit to be the next MCP President and his leadership will receive blessings from all patriotic members and supporters of the party.
He has accused some members in the party who are going to the people that Alex Major be given the Secretary General position describing this as nonsense saying Major will stand for presidency position and them can stand for Secretary General position.
The source has finally urged MCP members and supporters not to entertain the failures to continue leading the party claiming that they abused them and let them be suffering for five years, they spent most of their stolen money building lodges and mansions in town saying this time around, it is time for the neglected stones of Alex Major and others, to lead the MCP to walk in the footsteps of the late Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda.
