4 Die, 6 Injured In Ntcheu Road Accident

A road accident has claimed four lives and left six others injured following a head-on collision at Madzanje along Ntcheu-Balaka M1 Road.

Ntcheu Police spokesperson Rabecca Ndiwate says the accident occurred on Saturday afternoon involving a motor vehicle registration number BT 4249 Toyota Passo which was heading from the direction of Ntcheu heading Balaka.

The vehicle had wo female passengers on board and upon arrival at Madzanje Area, it collided head on with an on coming vehicle, registration number CA 9438 Toyota Prado Land Cruiser with six passengers on board driven by Luta Winga, 43 from Lupembe Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kyungu in Karonga.

“Following the impact, the Passo driver, and his two female passengers, all unknown, were pronounced dead upon arrival at Ntcheu District Hospital after sustaining severe injuries while one female passenger from the Toyota Prado, Rabecca Ndovie Winga 38, from Lupembe Village from T/A Kyungu was also pronounced dead at the same facility,” said Ndiwate.

The other six passengers sustained various degrees of injuries and are receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central hospital.

Police have since appealed to the people whose relatives are missing to report at Ntcheu District Hospital mortuary or any nearest Police Station for identification,.
