Malawi Gaming and National Lotteries Board, has urged Malawians to start viewing gambling and betting as an entertainment and not a source of income.
Senior Compliance and Public Relations Officer for the Board, Miriam Kumbuyo said this in Lilongwe during a media workshop on the status of Gaming and lotteries in Malawi.
Kumbuyo said despite economic challenges the country is facing, the Gambling and betting industry has grown with other people thinking gambling would help address financial challenges.
She therefore called for responsible gambling, saying taking gambling as source of income, often times lead to addiction.
On her part, Tabitha Dzole –St John of God Addition recovery services officer said many people most especially the adolescents are suffering from such addiction.
