Social Commentator Victor Chipofya has expressed doubts if the country will benefit from president Lazarus Chakwera’s public speaking award initiative introduced during his SADC chairmanship.
Chipofya said that considering that Malawi no longer holds the regional grouping chairmanship, he sees no reason why the initiative should be continued.
He has also expressed doubt with the authority’s sentiments that the initiative demonstrates the president’s willingness to listen to people’s aspirations locally, saying the prevailing social and economic challenges do not attest to that.
State House press secretary, Anthony Kasunda while stressing that the initiative will be continued, says it is part of the president’s interests to listen to the people’s voices.
