Bon Kalindo speaks out: A call for justice in the Chikangawa Forest Plane Crash

By Burnett Munthali

In a powerful audio message, Bon Kalindo, the Democratic Congress (DC) spokesperson, has made a passionate appeal to Malawians ahead of the rescheduled nationwide demonstrations set for Thursday, October 30, 2024. Originally planned for October 24, the protests have garnered overwhelming support from various groups and individuals, particularly those united in their love for the late SKC.

Kalindo’s message is clear: all those who cherished SKC must come forward and participate in the protests, emphasizing the collective responsibility to seek justice for the Chikangawa Forest plane crash. He highlighted the importance of honoring SKC’s legacy by demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

As part of the mobilization efforts, Kalindo has called for a gathering on Tuesday, October 28, in Ntcheu, where participants will visit SKC’s grave before the nationwide demonstrations. This symbolic act aims to strengthen the connection between the protesters and the memory of SKC, reinforcing their commitment to justice.

Sylvester Namiwa of the Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has also been vocal, encouraging citizens to join this significant movement. He can be reached at 0993462700 for more information regarding the demonstrations.

Kalindo, who can be contacted at 0993650005, reiterated that the call for protests is not merely a reaction to the plane crash but a demand for accountability from the government. The goal is to establish a commission of inquiry that thoroughly investigates the incident, ensuring that such tragedies do not go unanswered.

As the date approaches, the unity and resolve of the demonstrators will be tested, but with strong leadership from figures like Bon Kalindo and support from organizations like CDEDI, there is a palpable sense of urgency and determination to pursue justice for SKC and all affected by the crash.
