Moffat Banda Urges Residents of Chiradzulu Midima to Register as Voters

By Burnett Munthali

Moffat Banda, one of the aspiring candidates vying for the position of Member of Parliament in the Chiradzulu Midima constituency, has expressed concern over the low turnout of residents registering to vote. Banda made these remarks while at Namachete Primary School, where the registration process is ongoing.

Banda, who hopes to run on the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ticket, shared that he has been actively encouraging people in the area to register, stressing the importance of their participation in the electoral process. However, he noted that these efforts have yet to yield significant results.

“It is worrisome that time is running out, as there are only a few days left before the electoral commission closes the registration process,” Banda stated.

The registration period, crucial for enabling eligible voters to participate in the upcoming elections, has been marked by a lower-than-expected turnout in Chiradzulu Midima. Banda’s concern reflects the broader issue of civic engagement in the area and the potential impact on representation if registration numbers do not increase.

As Banda continues to rally support, he hopes that the residents will understand the importance of their vote and the power it holds in shaping the future of their community.
