The Volleyball Association of Malawi (VAM) has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing stringent doping standards, ensuring fair play reigns supreme in the sport.
VAM’s stance aligns with international best practices, safeguarding the integrity of the game and protecting athletes’ health.
VAM President James Kaunda made the declaration during the launch of the 2024 Raiply National Volleyball Championship in Mzuzu on Monday.
“Fair play is non-negotiable, we’re determined to prevent injustices that rob deserving athletes of their rightful victories. All players must compete in their natural state, free from performance-enhancing substances.” Kaunda emphasized

This year’s Raiply National Volleyball Championship promises thrilling action, with top teams vying for glory.
VAM’s zero-tolerance approach to doping issues ensures a level playing field, where talent and hard work alone secure victory, warned that athletes found guilty of doping irregularities will face severe penalties.
On the other hand Raiply Malawi’s Administration and Human Resource Manager, Jackson Chapuma, highlighted the substantial increase in sponsorship from K10 million to K25 million, a commitment coming at a time when other major economic players are scaling back on corporate social responsibilities.

“Rising inflation has impacted event organization costs, prompting our decision,” Chapuma explained. “This boost will ensure the tournament’s smooth execution and support operational needs.”
Both VAM and Raiply Limited have emphasized fair play and integrity, urging teams to avoid unethical practices in the tournament which promises to attract top teams and thrill enthusiasts, showcasing commitment to local sports development.
