United Democratic Front (UDF) member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) Ken Ndanga has emphasized the potential of football to create jobs and stimulate economic growth in Malawi.
Speaking during the Honorable Iddie Carlos League Finals held on Sunday January 26, 2025 at St. Augustine 3 Primary School Ground in Mangochi District, Ndaga highlighted the importance of investing in sports infrastructure and promoting football development programs to unlock the sector’s economic potential.
“Football is not just a game; it is a multi-billion dollar industry that can create jobs, stimulate economic growth and promote national unity,” Ndanga said.
He added that “In Malawi, we have the talent, the passion and the potential to develop a thriving football industry. What we need is a comprehensive strategy to develop our football infrastructure, promote talent development and create jobs in the sector.”
In his remarks, Carlos who is member of Parliament for Mangochi North East Constituency and an aspirant for Mangochi Municipality Constituency in the forthcoming general elections, emphasized that his vision for football development is not just about creating opportunities for the young people, but also about promoting national unity, social cohesion and community development.
“Footbal has power to bring people together, to promote national pride and to inspire young people to achieve their dreams. As a Member of Parliament, I am committed to harnessing the power of football to drive economic growth, social development and national unity,” said Carlos.
